9U Warriors Start the Season with a "W"

The snow has melted, the rain has stopped, and the fields are dry. It's time to play ball! !! After an A League Championship last year, the Warriors 9u moved up to the AA Division and are looking to be just as competitive. The West Nyack Warrior 9u squad picked up right where it left off last season, with another big win over Ramsey Gold 3 to 2.

The Warriors jumped out to a quick 2 nothing lead on walks by Justin Ellis and Brandon Wray, and a huge 2 out single by Michael McGillycuddy that scored 2 runs. Ramsey came back in the bottom of the first scoring 1 run to make it 2 to 1. Ramsey scored again in the bottom of the 2nd to make it 2 to 2. The Warriors took a 3 to 2 lead in the top of the 4th. McGillycuddy singled and stole 2nd base. He then scored what eventually would be the winning run after walks by Brian Michel and Ryan Fenlon and a huge 2 out walk by Gabriel Dong after going 0 and 2 in the count. The 3 to 2 lead was enough for the Warriors. Holder continued to get more dominant as the game went on and shut down Ramsey through 5. Michael McGillycuddy then came on in relief to pitch the 6th inning. After giving up a leadoff single, McGillycuddy then forced the next batter to pop up to the pitcher and he then threw to first to double up the runner. He then forced the last batter to ground back to the pitcher and he threw from his knees to first to get the final out.

The Warriors were lead by Mike Holder on the mound. Holder pitched 5 innings giving up 2 runs on 4 hits and striking out 9. They were also lead by Michael McGillycuddy who went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and the game winning run. He also turned a double play and pitched the last inning.

The coaches are so proud of this team. They play together and really enjoy being around each other. Next up is Northern Valley Norseman on Wednesday at 5 pm on the road.

Our 8U Warriors Team kicks off the season on Sunday, March 23rd at 9 am.  They will play their first game on the field at Albertus Magnus.  Come out and support our 8U team!
